Carbon8 Aggregates hosted the SW CIWM regional event at Avonmouth in March. We had 25 visitors from a broad cross-section of the waste industry; from Consultants and Energy from Waste Operators to users of recycled aggregates.
It was an informative event, with Dr Peter Gunning (Carbon8’s Technical and Quality Manager) and James Ng (APCr Contracts Manager) presenting the Carbon8 process and the journey and development of our patented “Accelerated Carbonation Technology” (ACT).
The Carbon8 process has advanced since its early days and is now used to treat and recycle a variety of powdered wastes alongside Air Pollution Control residues (APCr) from Energy from Waste facilities.
The skillsets Carbon8 have developed also stretch beyond a treatment and recycling company; as James explained “the Carbon8 team can identify operational problems at EfW plants from the analysis of the APCr received into their facilities. This allows us to alert the EfW Management Team about the issues and, potentially, avoid lengthy and costly shut-downs”
It was a great Networking event and Yvonne Pearce from the CIWM commented that “everyone spoke about how much they had enjoyed the visit and how interesting it was.”
She went on to say that it was a great opportunity to see “a wonderful example of the Circular Economy in action, involving a hazardous waste being developed into a beneficial products instead of being sent to landfill”
